Leninism and the Arab Spring

Despite the views of far too many in the radical left, there was no contradiction between true anti-imperialism and supporting the democratizaton movements of the Arab Spring. The bitter struggles against long-time entrenched tyrannies were democratization movements that weren't generally directed at imperialism, but were the uprising of working people striving to break the chains that had left them passive. Their victory would have been an advance for anti-imperialism as it would loosened the chains that had held them back for so long and suppressed their class organization and struggle. Meanwhile those of the tryannies that had presented themselves as "anti-imperialist" were actually nothing but hangmen of the people's aspirations. In articles such as the following, the Communist Voice Organization not only defended the democratic movements of the Arab Spring but showed what Leninism really said about democratization struggles.
